NEW RECORD GRAYLING!

My dream came true! 2120g dry fly GRAYLING! 8.9.2010 FORGOTTEN LAKE, ENONTEKIÖ, FINLAND

Forgotten lake. Enontekiö. Finland.

Many years ago I had heard the old Sámi people talking that there is a "Forgotten lake" in the Tundra, where the graylings eat gold and grow really large, even 3000grams! I thought that everything is just a story, ...

... But I did not get the story out of my mind. I saw the lake many times in my dreams. Then I thought that I must go and find the lake  next autumn when I have some holiday. So, ...

8 September 2010. I was here at the "Forgotten lake". The evening was fine. Warm weather +15C. The landscape showed itself in the  most beautiful autumn colors and the surface was like a mirrow. The only movement were ocasional rings caused by fish feeding on the surface. The sun set behind the hills and water butterflies were rising up, ...

Then I noticed that really huge grayling rise to the surface right on the beachfront. That was the moment for the gray Europa 12 dry! On the leader and out! ....wait...wait.. and PAM!!! My dream was realized without me knoing it yet! A really, really FAT Grayling of 2120grams and 58cm was in my hands!

The date was perfect for great Northern Lights which were rising up in the sky after the sun had set! I cried, I was so happy! The story about the Forgotten lake was true!

Some information about the forgetten lake: The lake is located in the high fell range. The elevation is over 500 meters above sea level. The lake location is far away from any settlement, so it is a genuine wilderness lake. Distance to the nearest road is about 40 km. This is the main reason why fishermans have not been at the lake, and consequently, the grayling have been able to attain trophy size.
